Our building dates back to 1868 during Beechworth’s gold rush era. The Hibernian Hotel has been a hotel since that time and has enjoyed a colourful history along with many other historically significant buildings in one of Australia’s best preserved historic towns.
According to local history, the pub hosted the wedding reception for one of the Kelly gang and back in those days members of the gang lodged in the accommodation.
In July 2005, current proprietors, Kerin and De Rowbottom took over the licence of the hotel and extensive renovations and refurbishment began. TAB facilities have been install for the enjoyment of our guests. Today’s hotel is modern, spacious and comfortable with service to match.
In 2009 modern apartment style accommodation adjoining the hotel was completed. Guest can enjoy the convenience of their own self-contained type accommodation in the centre of town.
