Our building dates back to 1868 during Beechworth’s gold rush era. The Hibernian Hotel has been a hotel since that time and has enjoyed a colourful history along with many other historically significant buildings in one of Australia’s best preserved historic towns.
According to local history, the pub hosted the wedding reception for one of the Kelly gang and back in those days members of the gang lodged in the accommodation.
In July 2005, current proprietors, Kerin and De Rowbottom took over the licence of the hotel and extensive renovations and refurbishment began. Today’s hotel is modern, spacious and comfortable with service to match.
Currently there is no facility for accommodation but future plans include units for guest accommodation on the adjoining block of land.
